A keen observer of his surroundings, Patrick Rodrigue has had his studio in Quebec City for the last twenty years. The downtown architecture and the lively streets stimulate him daily. His inspiration comes from public places, the roofs of the Old Quarters, skylights, backyards, trees and flowerboxes, and the ever-present city dwellers. Patrick Rodrigue’s urban landscapes are characterized by their dynamic composition in which notions of space and depth are always prevalent. The viewpoints are original, the design is definite and perspectives are clear. The refinement and luminosity of their colours are especially appreciated.
Patrick Rodrigue is a recognized artist whose works are now found in many private collections in Canada, the United States and in Europe. He has been represented in galleries in Quebec since 1994. Born in 1964, Patrick Rodrigue holds a BA in Graphic Communications from the Laval Univerisity in Quebec City (1988) as well as a Diploma in Drawing and Painting from the Ontario College of Art and Design University of Toronto (1992). During this second training he completed a year of independent studies in drawing in Florence, Italy, (1992). This one-year stay abroad was possible thanks to a scholarship from the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation (1991).
